I haven't gotten around to writing english posts recently (neither to translating an entry in German) - nevertheless there is new stuff online, which doesn't require mastery of the German languange to enjoy.

Cementerio de la Recoleta

Ever since I accidentally stumbled upon the cemetery in Ajaccio on the island of Corse in the Mediterranean decades ago I've been fascinated by graveyards. Rather than a yard full of stone-framed rectangles decorated with occasionally fresh, usually withered flowers in front of a tombstone I found rows and rows of mausolea. Miniature-temples, - cathedrals, -obelisks, a city of the dead. Very impressive.

The Cementerio de la Recoleta in Buenos Aires is a kind of a Über-brother of the Cimetiéres de Ajaccio - and the final address of many famous - and infamous - Argentineans. After my recent short visit of the cemetery in San Martin de los Andes I remembered a stroll through Recoleta during a stopover in BsAs on my last trip to Germany - et voila...
